Pope County Fair

General Rules & Regulations

Rules and Regulations will be strictly adhered to!

    The Pope County Agricultural Society Board reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine matters, questions, and differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of or connected with, or incident to the fair.

  1. The management reserves the right to add to these rules as they in their judgment may deem advisable.

  2. No person shall be permitted to distribute advertising matter on the grounds except from their places of business or exhibit.  The tacking or posting of any advertisements, bill cards, etc., except within the space occupied by the exhibitor is strictly prohibited.

  3. NO DOGS ALLOWED EXCEPT FOR SERVICE OR EXHIBIT.

  4. All accidents must be reported to the fair office immediately.

Entries

  1. No one exhibitor shall be allowed to make more than one entry in any one lot, and nothing except livestock that has been previously shown at this Fair, shall compete for a prize.

  2. Entries for premiums in the individual lots of grain, field seed, fruits and forage shall not be permitted to appear as parts of collections.

  3. No article or animal shall compete for more than one premium.  Stock and articles must be entered in the name of bona fide owners, and grain, vegetables, fruit, dairy products and domestic manufacturers MUST HAVE BEEN RAISED OR MADE BY THE EXHIBITORS THEREOF DURING THE PAST YEAR.

  4. Every article in competition must correspond in number, size of ample and description with the premium list and be in its proper class in order to obtain premiums.  No change or alteration will be permitted after the books are placed in the hands of the judges.

  5. Each entry tag shall be securely fastened to the entry itself, or the stall, pen or receptacle in which it is shown.

  6. Entries in all class divisions must be made on or before and in place by 3:00 p.m.  Livestock and poultry entries will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. July 31st, 2007.

  7. Entry fee is 10% of premium and will be deducted from premium check.

  8. THE FAIR BOARD HAS THE OPTION TO DISQUALIFY ITEMS WE FEEL WERE NOT MADE BY THE EXHIBITOR.

Release of Exhibit

  1. ALL ARTICLES AND LIVESTOCK ARE TO REMAIN ON EXHIBITION UNTIL 6 P.M. THE LAST DAY OF THE FAIR.

  2. Premiums will not be paid on articles or animals removed from exhibition.

  3. Bring a copy of the entry form when you claim your items.

NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE

  1. The association will take every precaution in its power for the preservation of the articles and stock of exhibition, but will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur in delivery, exhibition or removal of exhibits.

AWARDS

  1. The superintendent, or assistant, of the division shall assist the awarding judges as clerks and shall keep a record of the awards made.  This record when completed shall be signed by the judges and returned to the Secretary.

  2. The awards of premium shall be designated by ribbons or cards as follows: First premium, blue; second, red.

  3. All awards shall be made by comparison of the individual merits of the entries.

  4. Any attempt by the exhibitors to influence or dictate the decisions of the judges will be sufficient cause of excluding his or her entry from competition and must be reported to the Secretary by the superintendent of the division.

  5. No appeal from the decision of the judges will be allowed.  An exhibitor may make protest to the superintendent of the division at the time of the award who may then require the judges to give reasons for such placing.

  6. No judges shall award any discretionary premiums.  When articles of superior merit are exhibited for which no premiums have been offered, the judges may enter the same as "Commended" on the book of awards, so that the Secretary may report the the board for future action.

  7. Premiums will not be awarded for articles or animals of inferior merit, although there be no competition.

LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY

  1. Exhibitors are responsible for all care and all vet charges incurred by their animals or poultry.

  2. Livestock and poultry will be inspected by the official veterinarian on the opening date of the exhibition and daily during exhibition.  The official veterinarian will order the immediate removal from the exhibition premises, any poultry or livestock with symptoms of infectious or communicable diseases.  This includes warts or ringworm.

  3. All poultry exhibits, except waterfowl and pigeons: 1)Identified by leg or wing band. 2) a. Negative pullorum-typhoid test within 90-days, or b. Record origin from a flock tested negative within the last 12 months.  3)Turkeys must be tested at a laboratory for typhi-murium and mycoplasmas or have a statement of origin if less than six months old.

  4. All POULTRY exhibitors must mail their entries to the superintendent so as to reach them at least 4 (four) days before fair to:  Kae Eblen, 14669 Cty. Rd 28, Villard, MN 56385.

  5. All birds must be properly leg banded and cooped.

  6. No poultry exhibitor may make more than two entries per class.

  7. Entries accepted from Pope and adjacent counties only.

  8. All poultry must be clean, dry and dusted for parasites (mites).

  9. Each open poultry class entry may enter only 1 pen per breed.
